Taffy
About
Taffy
She does pluck and over preen. She goes through periods of more and less often. No mutilation. Preen gland needs to be softened up and expressed every week/couple weeks can get very clogged up and hard to remove plug if left longer
Age or hatch date:
Approximately 20-30 years
Gender:
Female
Best qualities:
She is the absolute sweetest and will sweet talk you to death. Can often self entertain in cage with proper toys and needs met, LOVES dancing to music with people whether she’s on her cage, on your hand, or on your shoulder. She does have certain songs and genres that she tends to favor, Loves snuggles and will let you preen and pet her for hours, fun to shower with, hilariously sassy. Has a specific call/scream/noise for wake-up time, bed time, when she needs to potty (not always, but often), hungry, etc.
Favorite food:
Almond in shell, oven bites, Corn on the cob, unsalted cashews
Favorite toys:
Blankets to chew(her cage covers) Shoe lace circle, cardboard boxes, easy chew pine,
Dowel or step-up trained:
Yes
Challenges:
Screaming when out of sight or wants something (more of an issue at new apartment because she lost her companion bird, doesn’t have a super solid routine, and has me trained to tend to her when she screams to keep her quiet. When not socialized and handled by multiple people, becomes territorial and will bite others that enter the home. This is a major concern for me- her new home to work on this straight away as it’s a fresh time to reset. Can be hormonal during the seasons and will scream more and huff, sometimes lay eggs no matter how dedicated you are to placing her back by her cage when she gets huffy. Occasionally bites main handler when she’s moody or frustrated. She’d love to be the absolute center of attention, but makes it easy to develop bad habits, wonder if she might benefit from being around more birds?she’s used to being mommy’s princess.
Phobias: New items in the house like a new large tub or bin, when you change up your clothes occasionally (last week it was an orange hoodie), sometimes scared of random things like potatoes (but not always, airplane/helicopter/outside birds both visually and sound. Terrified of street garbage and recycle bins, new loud noises
Vocabulary:
Hi, hello, good girl, I love you, am I your girl? Noo
