Meet
Roger
Roger is a handsome Blue & Gold Macaw hatched in 1999. He’s presumed to be male and is a big boy. Roger is a great bird and usually gets along with other birds, to the point he becomes possessive. He’s a strong willed bird and can be stubborn at times. He responds well to a firm and consistent person and will benefit from ongoing training.
He is a bit shy and can be a loner at times but Roger still likes a little attention and really loves to be talked to. When he’s feeling social, Roger likes to play peek-a-boo or talk up a storm. He says “hello” along with a host of other short phrases and fun sounds. “Hi Jade”, “hi baby”, “peek-a-boo”, “knock it off”, “be quiet”, “no, stop it” are just a few of the things you will hear when Roger gets going.
Roger has a little feather plucking problem but we still think he is a beautiful boy. With the right home and some patience, he may be able to kick his plucking habit for good. Like most feather plucking birds, Roger will benefit from frequent baths. He does not care for the bath time and it will take time to teach time that bath time can be fun. When he wants attention, he climbs off his cage to come find his person. He loves to sit on the back of a chair (and yes he chews it).
